Salamanca offers the ideal combination of history, art, and academic focus. For the longest time our city as been associated with the study of Spanish for the correct pronunciation of the language. The Spanish that our students learn in the classroom is the same that they practice in the streets of Salamanca, a pure Castellan without any type of accent.

Salamanca has the advantage of having all of the services offered by large cities, while maintaining the enjoyable, young, and dynamic atmosphere of a small city. We are home to one of the oldest and most famous universities in the world, hosting more than 35,000 students per year.

The main square of Salamanca is one of the most beautiful from the Baroque era and is a common meeting point among students and the local population. Hosting annually close to half a million Spanish and foreign tourists, the city council is implementing all possible measures to prevent any type of crime, therefore Salamanca is known in this respect as one of the safest cities in Spain.

There are different traditional festivities throughout the year, especially in September during las Ferias y Fiestas (The Fair of Salamanca), honouring la Virgen de la Vega. There is a special activity programme for two weeks: concerts, exhibitions, fireworks and street markets that offer delicacies to visitors.
